Joint Base Charleston

Key Spouse

Key spouses are specially trained volunteers that promote individual, family & unit readiness. They are a support system that encourages peer-to-peer support year-round. They meet the vital needs of spouses and provide an informal sounding board through an informal network as part of the leadership team in each unit.

Key spouses support the commander's mission by taking care of squadron personnel. Key Spouses work closely with the commander, commander's spouse, First Sergeant, & the Airman and Family Readiness Center as well as other agencies deemed appropriate for the situation.

Charleston AFB typically has over 60 active Key Spouses. If you would like to know who the Key Spouses are in your unit, or if you are interested in becoming a Key Spouse, contact your unit First Sergeant, or the Airman and Family Readiness Flight at 963-4406 or email at 628FSS/ This email address is being protected from spambots.
