Teen Summer Camp Registration and Open Recreation
Teen camp will be provided at Youth Programs bldg 788 in the annex from 0600-1200 for youth 10-14 years of age. The cost for Teen camp is $60/week to members and is limited to 24 participants. Registration starts May 1 and slots will fill quickly.
Open recreation is available for youth 10-18 years of age for members ($30) and runs from 1200-1800.
Teen Center
The JB Charleston-WS Teen Center offers Boys & Girls Clubs of America and 4-H Club affiliated programs for youth between the ages of 13-19. Our mission is to enrich the lives of Naval Weapons Station teens by offering a comprehensive program that includes quality leisure, educational workshops, and encourages positive social relationships with peers and the surrounding community. Field trips, social functions and community involvement projects are just a few of the ways the NWS Teen Center provides our youth with leadership and character building opportunities while building friendships and developing a sense of belonging.
Power Hour Homework Assistance Program
Teen Center staff and volunteers offer homework assistance for members of the Teen Center, Monday-Thursday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Staff and volunteers offer teens ages 13-17 free assistance with math, science, and social studies.
Stay Smart Program
Every Tuesday at 5 p.m., teens ages 13-17 are invited to discuss issues relating to healthy life choices in a mature setting with a qualified Boys & Girls Clubs of America advisor.
Keystone Club
The Teen Center's Boys & Girls Club of America Keystone Club Program offers a chance for youth, ages 13-18, to develop character and leadership skills through service to the club, community, and various learning opportunities that will challenge and grow them into future leaders. The Keystone Club meets every Monday at 5 p.m. in the Teen Center. Interested teens should just stop by the center or call Lamar Moorehead at 764-2125 for more information.
