Short Stay (Moncks Corner)
Short Stay, located on beautiful Lake Moultrie near the town of Moncks Corner, provides a quality outdoor recreation experience for military, DoD employees, military retirees and their families. Short Stay has been developed to provide a varied program of wholesome, constructive, leisure-time activities which effectively contribute to the mental and physical well being of our military and DoD personnel.
We have 2 and 3 bedroom waterfront furnished villas. Our 2 bedroom villas sleep up to 4 with 2 queen size beds. Our 3 bedroom villas sleep up to 6 with 2 queen beds and 2 single beds.
We have 6 waterfront furnished roundettes that include a spacious deck with a view of Lake Moultrie and the surrounding area. Our roundettes can accommodate up to 4 with 2 queen size beds.
Small Log Cabins
These cabins are available for those who like the rustic style of camping, but prefer something sturdier than a tent. These are single room cabins with facilities located close by. We also have three 1.5 room units available.
Tent and RV
Waterfront sites include water, electric and cable for RVs and a conveniently located bathhouse for both RV and campsite areas. We also have a dump station and propane gas. We have a limited number of wooded sites that include 50 amp electric and cable hookup. Other wooded sites have 30 amp and water hookup only.
At Short Stay, you’ll have swimming, camping, boating and wonderful fishing opportunities right at your fingertips. If you go without a fishing pole, stop by Short Stay’s convenience store in the main office, where you can find affordable fishing poles, lures, bait and other fishing accessories (our bait shop is the largest on the lake).
If boating or fishing isn’t your “bag of worms,” you might want to wake up early one morning in time to catch the beautiful sunrise over Lake Moultrie. Or, later in the day, you can hoof it down the 2-1/2 mile exercise trail or take a leisurely hike on the Palmetto Trail, which goes all the way from the ocean to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Or, you can get together with your family and friends for an entertaining picnic under one of the outdoor pavilions.
If you prefer to participate in organized sports amd games, we offer “Silly Summer Games” during the summer months that include such silly delights as Water Balloon Grenades, Beach Volleyball, a Big Raft Race, Crate Maze, and so many more silly things for you to have fun doing!

For your water recreational activities, the Boat Shop at Short Stay provides a variety of power boats for fishing, skiing, tubing and knee boarding. Additionally, Short Stay is one of the premier places to learn to sail. Take a class with one of our certified instructors.
Guests also have the opportunity to explore the shallow swamps, black water ponds, thousands of tree stumps and live cypress trees, not to mention catch glimpses of the abundant wildlife. You can explore these waters either by canoe or kayak or one of the vessels from the rental fleet. A Safe Boating class is required before rental and usually takes about an hour. Boating class certification maybe acquired by either taking the free class at Short Stay or online at the SC DNR website for a fee. Just bring us a copy of the certificate.
So, whether you’re a hardcore fisherman, lazy cruiser captain, energetic knee boarder or just want to sling the kids around on the tube, come and check out what we have to offer.
If you'd prefer to stay landbound, we also have bicycles for rent!
Short Stay offers several pavilions and conference centers to hold Command/Squadron picnics and off-site training events.
-One CAC or military ID cardholder may reserve 3 housing units/campsites, except on summer holidays
-Military dependents must be 21 years old to reserve overnight accommodations
-Check-in at 3pm and check-out is 11am
-All patrons must check in at the office
-Prior to check out, please ensure you have properly disposed of all trash
-Refunds for villas, cabins, log cabins and campsites will be issued if cancelled at least 30 days prior to arrival
-If you pay a monthly fee for an accommodation and you leave early, you will be charged the daily rate for the number of days stayed and refunded the difference
-There will be no refunds after the first night's stay
Your guests are our guests! Up to 6 guests are welcome at Short Stay with their sponsor for up to 30 days. A daily fee will be charged for each guest. All guests must first register with the office, however, they cannot check in prior to the arrival of their sponsor. Sponsors must be on site at all times that their guest is on board at Short Stay.
Please note that sponsors are responsible for the actions of their guests and will pay all damages caused by guests.

Villas and cabins
We kindly ask that you please do not remove any of the deck furniture from the decks. Please visit our General Store for beach stuff.
There are no pets allowed in any of the accommodations or any of the Short Stay facilities. Pets are allowed in the campgrounds and must be on a leash at all times. Please clean up after your pet!
Directions to Short Stay
Short Stay is located in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. The distance from Charleston is about 35 miles.
Directions from Charleston: Take I-26 West to Hwy 52 exit towards Goose Creek and Moncks Corner. Go through the town of Goose Creek stay on Hwy 52 approximately 15 miles until you come to the red light in Moncks Corner you will see a CVS on your right in front of you. Turn left onto Hwy 52. Go over the Tail Race Canal Bridge go though first light and veer to your left go though the light. Gas station will be on your right. In approximately 2 miles you'll see a sign for Short Stay on the right. Make sure you stay in left hand lane, turn left onto Powerhouse Rd. You take the first right onto Old Black Oak Rd. Go over the railroad tracks to the end of the road at stop sign turn left. You have reached Short Stay.
Directions from Columbia: Take I-26 to Exit 199-B Summerville/Moncks Corner. Continue on 17-A through red light at Carnes Cross Roads (Hwy 176). Continue on 17-A until you have reached the intersection where the Sunoco station is on your left. In front of you on the left is the Piggly Wiggly grocery store. Go through the red light until you come to the end of Hwy 17-A there will be a Walgreens on your right, the Huddle House will be in front of you.
You have reached the intersection of Hwy 17-A and Hwy 52.Turn left and Go over the Tail Race Canal Bridge go though first light and veer to your left go though the light. Gas station will be on your right. In approximately 2 miles you'll see a sign for Short Stay on the right. Make sure you stay in left hand lane, turn left onto Powerhouse Rd. You take the first right onto Old Black Oak Rd. Go over the railroad tracks to the end of the road at stop sign turn left. You have reached Short Stay.
Alternate Directions from Columbia: Take exit 194 (Jedburg/Pinopolis). Turn left onto Hwy 16 (Jedburg Rd.). Go to the light (Hwy 176) and go straight across onto Cooper Store Road. Follow the signs to Pinopolis. Go to stop sign and take a right onto Hwy 6. Go towards the town of Moncks Corner and at third light make a left onto Hwy 17-A. That will lead into Hwy 52 and then make a left. Go over the Tail Race Canal Bridge go though first light and veer to your left go though the light. Gas station will be on your right.
In approximately 2 miles you'll see a sign for Short Stay on the right. Make sure you stay in left hand lane, turn left onto Powerhouse Rd. You take the first right onto Old Black Oak Rd. Go over the railroad tracks to the end of the road at stop sign turn left. You have reached Short Stay.
Directions from Myrtle Beach: Take Hwy 17 South into Georgetown. Once there follow Hwy 17-A into the intersection of Hwy 52 (The gas station in the y will be on the right). After the gas station take the right onto Hwy 52 (before the light). Stay in the left lane turn left onto Powerhouse Rd. You take the first right onto Old Black Oak Rd. Go over the railroad tracks to the end of the road at stop sign turn left. You have reached Short Stay.
***When you come to the gate house at Short Stay*** If no one is at the gate there will be a call box. Hit 10 to call the office between the hours of 7:00am-1700pm. Hit 11 to call security office between the hours of 1700pm-7:00am. There will be directions (red plate) on the call box.
