Family Campgrounds

FamCamp is a great place to reduce the high cost of vacations, weekend excursions, PCS moves, TDY and leave travel. The whole family can enjoy the benefits of travel, sight-seeing, and outdoor recreation while keeping expenses to a minimum. Joint Base Charleston offers three convienient locations to hang your hat:

Air Base Fam Camp • Weapons Station Foster Creek • Short Stay Recreation Area 

    • Active duty military and DoD personnel assigned to Joint Base Charleston are welcome to use any of the three FamCamps for recreational purposes while in authorized leave status.
    • Individuals (active duty military / DoD personnel) in PCS status may utilize any of the three FamCamps for a period not to exceed 30 days.
    • Individuals in TDY status to Joint Base Charleston may utilize any of the three FamCamps for a period not to exceed 180 days.
    • Use of any of the three Joint Base Charleston FamCamps is 180 days per calendar year.

Naval Weapons Station Goose Creek

Foster Creek is a gateway to experience everything the Lowcountry has to offer. It's minutes away from hunting and fishing at Marrington Trails and beautiful Cypress Gardens, where you can take a scenic walk, hike, or boatride. Foster Creek has easy access. There are no showers or laundry facilities on site.

Short Stay Rates

Jan - Dec | We do not have full hookups. A dumpstation is located in the campground.

Short Stay Recreational Area offers a beautiful recreation area with year round outdoor activities and recreational lodging. Sitting on fifty five acres, Short Stay offers wonderful views of Lake Moultrie where camping, fishing and a beach offer plenty for the family or group outing. Open to Active Duty Personnel, Retired Military, DOD Civilians and their dependents, this Recreational Area is a great one-day play day or a week long retreat!

Air Base Fam Camp

Charleston Air Base

The Air Base Fam Camp is located on the Air Base, which is just 25 minutes away from historic downtown Charleston. This famcamp has pull-through sites, concrete pads, laundry facilities, and nice walking trails. It also lives up to its name in terms of location - a nicely wooded area with lots of shade.

The location is close to the Golf Course and ORC, but you are just a short drive or leisurely walk to everything the base has to offer.
